First things first — Copyright.
As a photographer I automatically own the copyright to all images, commissioned or otherwise, and whilst assigning copyright is a thing, it is for all intents and purposes totally unnecessary.
Enter — Usage Rights...
Licensing is an industry standard practice. These licensed rights are designed to afford you flexibility, only paying for the usage you require.
In short, these rights cover -
-  Media (Above the line - 'Content' and below the line - 'Channel')
-  Duration
-  Territory
-  Exclusivity
-  Attribution Requirements (if any)
-  Rights or Limitations (with regard to image editing) and
-  Sub-licensing regulations
Certain usage rights are included within my original fee and include your own Website, Social Media, Local Advertising and Self Promotion; For a Period of One Year (commencing 3 months post image delivery); Within Scotland; Exclusive to the License Holder (not to be confused with copyright ownership); and Attribution (at your discretion).
I retain the right to display all images in my portfolio, either post publication or 3 months post image delivery.
You will find the above and any additional rights listed in your project Estimate/Quote...
